Studio Policies

COVID-19 Reopening Policy

FineLine Theatre Arts Reopening Safety Plan

I. People:
Physical Distancing: A distance of 12 ft. will be maintained inside dance classes and 6 ft. for acting classes. The floors will be marked with personal dance areas and places at the barre will be sufficiently spaced with markers.

Staff, students, and instructors will wear face coverings when outside of the dance room, exiting, or entering the building.

Occupancy in the dance classes will be limited to 8 dancers in the big studio, 2 students in the acting studio, 2 students in the tap studio, and 2 students in the back studio. For acting classes, 4 students will be permitted at a time. Students will rotate between in-person and online Zoom classes during the 1st trimester, so everyone has a chance for in-studio instruction if desired. Families will have the option of registering for Zoom only classes.

II. Places:
Protective Equipment: Staff and instructors will be equipped with acceptable face coverings.

When using shared surfaces in the studio (ie. Stereo, barres, etc), everyone must sanitize or wash hands before and after contact.

Hygiene and Cleaning: There will be a sanitation station upon entering the building and in each studio.

We will maintain Cleaning Logs for the lobby and studios. The rooms will be sanitized after each class and the floors will be sanitized with a steamer every night. A professional cleaning company will be sanitizing the studio bi-weekly.

Communication: There will be proper signage throughout the studio to remind personnel to adhere to proper hygiene, social distancing rules, appropriate use of PPE, and cleaning and disinfecting protocols.

If an employee or student tests positive for COVID-19, FineLine must immediately notify state and local health departments and cooperate with contact tracing efforts.

III. Process: Face masks will be required to enter/exit FineLine. They will not be required once in the studio for class. If a student/parent feels more comfortable wearing a mask in class they may.

There will be a health screening assessment (no-touch temperature check) before employees and students enter the FineLine building. Anyone with an elevated temperature (100 degrees +) will be asked to go home. Hand sanitization will also be required before entering the building and studios.

Please follow all entrance and exit guidelines. Parents will not be allowed to wait in our lobby, please use the front porch if needed. Students should arrive for class no earlier than 15 minutes, with their dance/acting clothes on and minimal belongings to be brought into their studio. Our lobby will be closed, lockers and cubbies will not be in use. Students will be directed to their appropriate studio for class to begin. Please pick-up your child on time, if you will be more than 5 minutes late to the studio please call the front desk.

Student Illness Policy

The intention of this policy is to provide a healthy and safe environment for our students. Some illnesses and situations require a child to be absent from class to prevent the spread of infection to other children and to allow the child time to rest, recover and be treated for the illness. In order to help keep our children healthy, FineLine Theatre Arts requires adherence to the guidelines of this policy.

Children will not be allowed to attend classes or school related activities if they have anything contagious such as, but not limited to the following:

  • FEVER: May return when fever free (under 100 degrees) for 24 hours, without medication
  • DIARRHEA / VOMITING: May return when symptom free for 24 hours
  • STREP THROAT: May return after 24 hours of antibiotic treatment and no fever for 24 hours
  • CONJUNCTIVITIS (pink eye): May return 24 hours after treatment begins and eyes are free of discharge
  • HEAD LICE: May return after treatment and removal of all live lice and nits from hair
  • COMMUNICABLE DISEASES (such as, but not limited to – influenza, common cold, chickenpox, etc.): May return when symptom free and have been cleared by their medical provider with a note stating they may return to their FineLine class

If a student arrives at the studio with symptoms, or during class begins to show symptoms indicative of a condition listed above, a parent/guardian will be contacted and asked to pick the child up as soon as possible. If a student has MISSED school for the day due to illness, they must stay home from FineLine, too.

The parent/guardian needs to maintain direct contact with FineLine if the child is diagnosed with any communicable disease so the school can take appropriate steps to protect the entire student population.

Tardiness Policy

Students arriving 10 minutes late to a dance or acrobatics class may be asked to observe class. This is for their protection against injury. If the student/parent know that they will be more than 20 minutes late to a class, please email your teacher to schedule a make-up class.

Absence Policy

Please call the school at 860.210.1444 or email info@finelinetheatrearts.com when you will be absent from class, so you may schedule a time to make-up the class you missed. Four or more absences to class or rehearsal will result in the reduction of participation in performances.

Behavior Expectations

Students are expected to conduct themselves with appropriate boundaries, before, after and during classes!

-Students must keep their belongings well organized.

-Students must respect the building including cleaning up after themselves in the bathroom and general respect for the property.

-Students unless specified in class should keep noise level to a minimum.

-Students are expected to follow teachers’ instructions.

-Students are not allowed in a studio unless there is a faculty member present.

-Students will only be allowed to participate in classes in which they are registered, unless approved by a teacher as a make-up class.

EXPECTATIONS FOR PRACTICE AND PERFORMANCE

FineLine values professionalism and healthy standards of work ethic. When you register for class it is understood that your student intends to take class to the best of their ability. Students must come to class prepared; hair done, clothing and shoes on at the start of class time.

Disciplinary Procedures

FineLine is enriched by the diversity of its members. FineLine recognizes and respects individual differences in culture, race, ethnic origin, religion, gender, and sexual orientation. To provide an environment of respect and sensitivity, it is important that all students recognize that behavior, whether verbal, written or physical, which disregards or demeans the self-esteem of others, is unacceptable. Such behaviors are unacceptable regardless of how they are communicated. Any individuals engaging in such behaviors will be subject to disciplinary action.

To provide an environment of respect and sensitivity, it is important that all students recognize that behavior, whether verbal, written or physical, which disregards or demeans others unacceptable.

A meeting with Scott Wise and faculty will be called with all parents and students involved. The student, and or parent, must be able to voice their complaint in front of the person they are having issues with. Both sides will be given the opportunity to express their feelings and point of view.

Disciplinary action may include removal from classes temporarily or permanently.

Performance Standards

FineLine casts performances based on age, level and participation. We believe every student deserves a change to share the stage and are considerate of all students when we distribute parts in performances.

Winter Weather Policy

We generally follow the closing schedule of the New Milford School District for weather closings.

If New Milford Schools have a delayed opening, our morning classes (before noon) are cancelled.

If there is an early dismissal or cancellation of after-school activities, our afternoon and evening classes are cancelled.

While we typically follow New Milford School District for weather-related class cancellations, the decision to cancel or hold classes is ultimately at our discretion. In the event of bad weather, keep a close eye on your email, as well as our Facebook and Instagram pages, for a decision by 12pm. Do not automatically assume the studio is closed.

If the studio is closed, we will send out an email to registered families and post the closing on our Fineline Facebook page and Instagram account.

Classes will not be rescheduled and refunds cannot be offered. Classes cancelled because of weather may be made up in a similar class with the permission of the teacher. If an extraordinary amount of snow days occur, we will make every effort to add extra days.
