Studio Policies

Student Illness Policy

The intention of this policy is to provide a healthy and safe environment for our students. Some illnesses and situations require a child to be absent from class to prevent the spread of infection to other children and to allow the child time to rest, recover and be treated for the illness. In order to help keep our children healthy, FineLine Theatre Arts requires adherence to the guidelines of this policy.

Children will not be allowed to attend classes or school related activities if they have anything contagious such as, but not limited to the following:

  • FEVER: May return when fever free (under 100 degrees) for 24 hours, without medication
  • DIARRHEA / VOMITING: May return when symptom free for 24 hours
  • STREP THROAT: May return after 24 hours of antibiotic treatment and no fever for 24 hours
  • CONJUNCTIVITIS (pink eye): May return 24 hours after treatment begins and eyes are free of discharge
  • HEAD LICE: May return after treatment and removal of all live lice and nits from hair
  • COMMUNICABLE DISEASES (such as, but not limited to – influenza, common cold, chickenpox, etc.): May return when symptom free and have been cleared by their medical provider with a note stating they may return to their FineLine class

If a student arrives at the studio with symptoms, or during class begins to show symptoms indicative of a condition listed above, a parent/guardian will be contacted and asked to pick the child up as soon as possible. If a student has MISSED school for the day due to illness, they must stay home from FineLine, too.

The parent/guardian needs to maintain direct contact with FineLine if the child is diagnosed with any communicable disease so the school can take appropriate steps to protect the entire student population.

Tardiness Policy

Students arriving 10 minutes late to a dance or acrobatics class may be asked to observe class. This is for their protection against injury. If the student/parent know that they will be more than 20 minutes late to a class, please email your teacher to schedule a make-up class.

Absence Policy

Please call the school at 860.210.1444 or email [email protected] when you will be absent from class, so you may schedule a time to make-up the class you missed. Four or more absences to class or rehearsal will result in the reduction of participation in performances.

Behavior Expectations

Students are expected to conduct themselves with appropriate boundaries, before, after and during classes!

-Students must keep their belongings well organized.

-Students must respect the building including cleaning up after themselves in the bathroom and general respect for the property.

-Students unless specified in class should keep noise level to a minimum.

-Students are expected to follow teachers’ instructions.

-Students are not allowed in a studio unless there is a faculty member present.

-Students will only be allowed to participate in classes in which they are registered, unless approved by a teacher as a make-up class.

EXPECTATIONS FOR PRACTICE AND PERFORMANCE

FineLine values professionalism and healthy standards of work ethic. When you register for class it is understood that your student intends to take class to the best of their ability. Students must come to class prepared; hair done, clothing and shoes on at the start of class time.

Disciplinary Procedures

FineLine is enriched by the diversity of its members. FineLine recognizes and respects individual differences in culture, race, ethnic origin, religion, gender, and sexual orientation. To provide an environment of respect and sensitivity, it is important that all students recognize that behavior, whether verbal, written or physical, which disregards or demeans the self-esteem of others, is unacceptable. Such behaviors are unacceptable regardless of how they are communicated. Any individuals engaging in such behaviors will be subject to disciplinary action.

To provide an environment of respect and sensitivity, it is important that all students recognize that behavior, whether verbal, written or physical, which disregards or demeans others unacceptable.

A meeting with Scott Wise, Elizabeth Parkinson, and faculty will be called with all parents and students involved. The student, and or parent, must be able to voice their complaint in front of the person they are having issues with. Both sides will be given the opportunity to express their feelings and point of view.

Disciplinary action may include removal from classes temporarily or permanently.

Performance Standards

FineLine casts performances based on age, level and participation. We believe every student deserves a chance to share the stage and are considerate of all students when we distribute parts in performances.

Winter Weather Policy

We generally follow the closing schedule of the New Milford School District for weather closings.

If New Milford Schools have a delayed opening, our morning classes (before noon) are cancelled.

If there is an early dismissal or cancellation of after-school activities, our afternoon and evening classes are cancelled.

While we typically follow New Milford School District for weather-related class cancellations, the decision to cancel or hold classes is ultimately at our discretion. In the event of bad weather, keep a close eye on your email, as well as our Facebook and Instagram pages, for a decision by 12pm. Do not automatically assume the studio is closed.

If the studio is closed, we will send out an email to registered families and post the closing on our Fineline Facebook page and Instagram account.

Classes will not be rescheduled and refunds cannot be offered. Classes cancelled because of weather may be made up in a similar class with the permission of the teacher. If an extraordinary amount of snow days occur, we will make every effort to add extra days.
