Jazz dance is an exploration of style and presentation; it emphasizes balance, flexibility, coordination, strength, and creative expression. In our jazz classes at Fineline you will focus on learning proper dance technique and alignment, improving performance quality, and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Our class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement—classes include a proper warm-up, stretches, strengthening exercises, isolations, across-the-floor, progressions, and combinations. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz and a wide range of classic, contemporary, pop, rock, and indie music will be used.
As students’ progress through each level the curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
