Artists in Motion (AIM)

A pre professional repertory dance company in residence at Fineline Theatre Arts.  We strive to give company members a true experience of being in a professional repertory company from rigorous weekly rehearsals and numerous performance opportunities to working with professional choreographers. Dancers also attend master classes throughout the season.

Students gain a professional work ethic, accountability, an enhanced ability to work with others and an opportunity to delve deeper into the performance aspect of dance.  Our repertory gives dancers an opportunity to work in many different dance forms.  Past choreographers include Robert Battle, BJ Sullivan, Noah Racey, Marisa Ballaro, Mary Ann Lamb, Arlene Begelman, Elizabeth Parkinson, Kerry Gallagher, the American Dance Legacy Initiative Repertory Etudes and Gev Manoukian.

AIM also seeks to enhance our community by giving free performances and engaging in charity outreach.  We have raised funds through performances and fundraising initiatives for the Women’s Center of Danbury, Julia’s Wings Foundation, Dancers Responding to AIDS/Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS, The Khalda Logan Scholarship Fund and the Mark Mills Foundation.

Performance Group will be offered this year!  The dancers in this class must commit to a full year (three trimesters) and be taking ballet as well as either modern/contemporary or jazz or both!

The purpose of this class is to learn repertory and be part of the performance group company.  The company, Artists in Motion, will perform in at least one additional performance outside of FineLine (dependent on post covid opening of theaters).  In the past, the company has performed in NYC at Peridance in the Kat Wildish Performance, Dancers Responding to AIDS benefit at SUNY Purchase College in Purchase NY and the Stamford Palace in Stamford CT, as well as locally and in FineLine’s DanceFest.  Some of these performances require fundraising for participation.

Performance Group will be offered as a class this year and is open to all students in ballet levels 4a, 4b, 5 & 6 that meet the requirements.

Co Directors: Kerry Gallagher and Elizabeth Parkinson
