Tap

Tap is excellent for the body and the mind. When a student puts on a pair of tap shoes, they become a dancer AND a musical instrument! Tap is a fun way to build strength, coordination, rhythm, musicality, and confidence. Students will be lead through different styles of tap with a variety of musical styles.  Tap is fun, athletic, and will help your student with all other forms of dance and sports.

Although not required, a student will progress more rapidly in tap with the addition of another type of movement class (ballet, jazz, theatre dance, or modern) because it builds additional strength and agility. Ages 5 and up.

About Fineline Dance Requirements

Requirements are based on safe practices for physical health, proper development, and a well rounded dance curriculum. Age, physical development, and strength are key factors in leveling.

Recommendations are not requirements, but instead are suggestions made to support growth across all dance styles and help to build a more versatile performer.

Our studio is equipped to provide rigorous training for those with professional aspirations, while remaining flexible to those with goals outside the professional realm. Students with busy outside schedules, or students who want to try dance for the first time, can and are encouraged to participate with even just one dance class a week!

We have designed our leveling for all ages, abilities, and commitment levels.

Tap Class Levels and Dress Code

Leveling ages are approximate, faculty input and experience also factor into leveling.

Ballet, Jazz, and/or Contemporary are recommended to support tap with basic movement skills.

All dancers level 1 and higher are invited to perform in the Spring DanceFest Performance. Choreography for DanceFest is learned in the second and third Trimester classes. Any additional rehearsals outside of class will be announced with plenty of notice and are kept to a minimum.
